Free Recoil Free Recoil is the amount of energy a gun of a given weight receives from firing a particular load. The lighter the gun, the more energy it receives in the form of recoil. For a particular gun, recoil increases as bullet weight, powder weight, and muzzle velocity increase. |

To calculate Free Recoil, open the Extended Data window and enter values for Gun Weight and Powder Wgt. Once this is done and the Extended Data window is closed, click on the Trace's Option button and then click on Calc Trace Values. Free Recoil is also shown on printouts of the Chart, and Report displays. |
